Friday Favorites

I don't have any Eye Candy to post today so I thought I'd mix it up a bit.  Friday Favorites is all about sharing my favorite things this week - home decor, fashion, crafts, etc.  Enjoy! 

Spectrum Chandelier:  I'm trying to decide if I want to put this over my red dining table or in my art room. 

Whale Bracelet:  I hope that have this at the Forever 21 in our mall because I must own it.  It reminds me of LaCoste which reminds me of my childhood.

 

Nike:  The sneaker-junkie in me wants these beauties.

Creative Jewelry Storage/Display: I would like to do something like this vase/branch as well as the vintage hand and little bowls on top of my dresser.

Paper and glue and good thoughts

Adam's grandmother had to be admitted to the hospital again.  She's been having various issues lately.  This time they've discovered she has congestive heart failure and diabetes.  She's doing ok now, but still retaining some fluid.  She needs to have surgery for some stents to be put in.  At this point they are trying to build her up a bit for the surgery.

We spoke with her on the phone yesterday, but it was a very short conversation.  She can't talk for very long because she gets out of breath easily.  I guess that comes from the fluid build up in the lungs which they are working on now. 

If you're the praying kind I know she would appreciate the prayers and good thoughts. 

It's been a while since I've spent time with my paper and glue.  It felt good to complete a quick project last night.  I decided to make her this little board frame as a get well gift. 

Simple stuff here - paper, stickers, flowers and buttons.  All supplies are from Making Memories except for the board - I've had that forever.  I covered the entire project in Gel Matte Medium (except the photos) to protect it.

In honor of Memorial Day here's a Patriotic Mosaic for Monday.  I'm partial to Marines.  :)  But, really nothing says America to me like a Marine in dress blues.

Special Memorial Day thanks to the veterans in my life - my husband, uncle, grandfather, grandfather-in-law and more friends than I can count.  You are truly what makes this country an amazing place to live.  Thank you.

Special Sweet Swap

It's Special Swap time again!

The theme for this swap was *sweets* - packages filled with sweets, goodies, candy-colored yarn, etc.  I'm almost finished packing my partner's package and it's been really fun to shop for.

Awesome-swapper Kathy sent my package a couple weeks ago and it was so fun to dig into!

2 skeins of gorgeous sock yarn.  Blue Moon STR (this colorway was actually on my wishlist!) & some Regia - I love the tiny stripes this yarn makes.  Love them both!!!

Some yummy, gummy (my favorite!) candy!  I actually wolfed down some of it before I took these pics - haha!  And how awesome are those vintage clip-on earrings?  I cannot wait to wear them.  I adore vintage jewelry.

This candy cracks me up!  A gummy candy lunch bag - so cute.

And these gum drop stitch markers are delicious, aren't they?!  Such a cute idea - love them.

Here's a summer-themed mosaic for this Monday.  It was in the 80s and 90s here all weekend so we were able to get a little taste of summer. 

We had a good weekend.  I was able to check a lot of things off my to-do list and I'm feeling a little more caught up for the time being. 

• Cleaned out our closet and donated a huge bag of clothes
• Caught up on some long-neglected chores, simplified a bit
• Got a great haircut & color, some new product and a nice visit with my stylist
• Refreshed our wardrobes a bit with some shopping
• Bought new bedding and finally decided on a color palette for our bedroom (Now we just need to pick our some paint and furniture)
• Spent some time outside in the sun and had a couple of great meals out

Eye Candy Friday

Some pretty sock yarn that I got a couple of weeks ago.  It's called Emerald Mine and I got it off of Etsy.  I ordered it for my birthday.  Can't wait to cast on.  :)

It's been a while since I've updated.  There isn't much going on besides the usual stuff. 

I feel extra busy lately though and a bit behind the curve in general.  I have many things to do and catch up on - emails, mailing and finishing Mother's Day gifts (oops!), homework, cleaning the house...etc. 

I hope to catch up this weekend and have more time for blogging soon.

a meme

I was tagged by knitting buddy Liberty to participate in:

the 6 weird things about me Meme.

• I need to have lotion on my hands at all times.  Dry hands make me shiver and if my hands are dry I will NOT touch other dry things - IE: paper.
• I haven't slept with a top sheet on my bed since I was a kid - just a comforter.  I kick it down to the foot of the bed sometime during the night.  I've tried it out over the years and I still kick it down there - every.single.time.  I'm a hot-sleeper to the max.
• I HATE spearmint flavored gum.  It makes me feel nauseous. 
• I have a hard time sitting still or doing just one thing at a time.  IE:  I can't just watch TV and relax.  I have to be doing something else in addition like knitting, returning emails, homework, etc.
• I don't really care for cake with frosting.  I always find that it's too sweet for me.  I will eat cake occasionally, but typically scrape the frosting off.  I'd much rather have pie or ice cream cake. 
• I have a weird obsessive personality in general.  Once I latch onto something I obsess, but I also drop things pretty quickly for the next new thing.

I'm not sure if these things are truly "weird" or just quirky.  Adam would probably say weird.  Either way I'm sure I could fill a week's worth of blog posts with weird/quirky facts about myself. 

I am supposed to tag 6 more bloggers, but I don't have that many friends (haha!) so I'll just tag 3.

Mosaic Monday

The last time I blogged was a week ago today.  You might remember...I had a bad Monday.

Well, last Monday was just a warning for my week ahead.  :)  I ended up with a horrible sinus headache on Wednesday morning.  I tried many OTC pain relievers and nothing even came close to fading the headache.  By Friday morning I still had the same headache + it had moved to my ear.  I left work early to go to the Dr. to find out I have the dreaded sinus infection.  Boo! 

I'm feeling only slightly better today.  The headache isn't constant, but it's still there.  Hopefully tomorrow will be my lucky day and these antibiotics will kick in!

So there you have it - Jasper and Charlie.  He likes these dogs more than his own kids!  For the record, Charlie (the Golden) is mine.  I wish he lived with me, but seperating these two dogs would surely cause heart failure in both.
