    Back to normal...

    Shadows

My brother headed home this morning.  We had a great visit over these last 10 days.  I was sad to see him go and I'm definitely going to miss having him here.  I wish he lived closer to Adam and I.  I'm pretty lucky to have a brother who is also my best friend.  I'm also lucky that he and Adam are close and get along really well.

We had a lot of good times during the visit and I've got a lot of photos to share later this week.

After being off of work for an entire week I'm not anxious to be back this week.  :)  My sleeping is all off from staying up late and sleeping in.  This is definitely going to be a long week for me and I've got a lot of things to catch up with around the house.  I also started a new class last week and it looks like it's going to be a lot of work.

Either way, it was worth it.  It's good to spend time with family - something I wish I was able to experience more often.

Happy Monday to you all!  I will recap the visit this week.  :)

    Happy Easter

We're enjoying a low-key Easter today.  We had a nice breakfast this morning and we're getting ready to make some calzones for lunch.

The Easter bunny came last night for Adam and Dan:

The Easter bunny brings good gifts at my house!  :)

I found some bubble gum eggs last night and couldn't pass them up:

    Gumeggs

My Mom used to put these in our Easter baskets and I haven't had them in a couple of years.  I'm glad to report that nothing has changed.  The flavor is still awesome - at least for the 2.5 seconds it lasts before the gum gets hard as a rock!

I dyed some Easter eggs yesterday morning:

    Dye3

I almost had more fun photographing the dye and eggs!

    Eggs1_3

The small ones were brown eggs which gave a cool effect with the dye.  I put some glitter gloss on a few too.

Hope everyone is having a great Easter!

    Wrong way

I've been tracking my brother's flight tonight.  His 2nd leg of the trip is Atlanta to Seattle.

I just refreshed the tracker and here's what I got:

    Flight

Um, I think that plane is heading the wrong way!  Of course I mildly freaked out for a minute.  Then I refreshed again and the plane was flying the right way again!  There's about 4 hours left in his flight now.  Won't be long now!

    Happy Friday!

It's a beautiful day in the neighborhood...

Today would have been Mr. Roger's 80th birthday.  In honor of that, everyone was supposed to wear a sweater.  It didn't have to be a cardigan like Mr. Rogers - just any special sweater.  Did you wear a sweater today?

I wore my special hand-knit sweater today.  I snapped a couple of pictures at work with the self timer on my point & shoot:

    Sweater

A special gold sweater just like Mr. Rogers :)

    Fredrogers_goldsweater

I loved Mr. Rogers as a kid.  LOVED his show.  Maybe it contributed to my adulthood love of sweaters?

Fred Rogers is also from Pittsburgh which is a special favorite city of mine.  My Mom's from the 'burgh and her family still lives there.  Including my Grandma & Pappy who now have a computer.  Grandma and her friends read my blog.  Hi Grandma and girls!  Living proof that you're never too old for the internet!

Remember my apple cozy from the other day?

    Cozyaction

Here it is on my desk.  It's working great - keeping my apples bruise free!

When I posted about it originally my cousin, Missy, reminded me of how much our Poppy hated the mishandling of produce.  She left a comment and it cracked me up instantly.  My Grandparents (on Dad's side) owned a produce store way back in the day and my Poppy was obsessed with produce.  I'm pretty sure he would have liked this apple cozy!

    Cute apple cozies

I made these apple cozies on Saturday.  One for me (the pink, white & red) and one for Adam (the red, pink & brown).  We both love apples and bring one to work every day.  These little cozies will keep our apples from getting bruised.  We'll use them for pears too when pears are in season.

    Applecozy1

I needed an instant gratification project this weekend.  Something that I could start and finish in a day.

    Applecozy2

This pattern was so simple.  Each cozy only took about 2 hours to knit.

    Applecozy3

I used up some leftover DK weight sock yarn that was in my box of odd balls.  These don't take very much yarn.  I still have enough in each odd ball for another cozy.

    Applecozy4

I have 2 more cozies in the works that will be going to another couple of apple lovers that I know.  :)

    • Pear Apple Cozy - by Susan B Anderson
    • Duet Sock Yarn - DK Weight ( I don't remember the colorway )
    • Size 5 Bamboo DPNs
    • A couple of hours to knit each cozy
    • No modifications or issues - just a simple, fun pattern!

    Happy St. Patrick's Day

    Stpats1

I wore my "Kiss Me, I'm Lucky" CareBear shirt today in honor of the coming St. Patrick's Day.  I loved me some Care Bears back in the day.  Still do actually.  We didn't do anything to celebrate the day.  I wanted to go to the parade in downtown Seattle, but of course it was raining all morning.

Growing up we always celebrated St. Patrick's Day in style.  My Mom is Irish and she always decorated and cooked for the occasion.  Corned beef and cabbage, shamrocks and leprachauns everywhere.  It was good stuff and I miss it.

    Stpats2

I got my hair cut today too.  My stylist opened his own salon and I'm really happy for him.  He's amazing and I've always walked out feeling like a million bucks.

If you're looking for a good haircut in Seattle you should check out his new salon.  Ask for Nihad and tell him I sent you.  He's very good at his job and one of the nicest people I've ever met.

    • Virtu Salon
    • 519 N. 85th St
    • Seattle, WA

It's up near Greenlake.  Close to downtown Ballard and really simple to get to from I-5.  You won't be disappointed.  :)

    Favorites

I snapped this shot last night while waiting for Adam to pick me up from work.  I was tired so I put my legs up on the windowsill.

    Noticed some of my favorites:

    • Pinstripe pants
    • Patent leather pumps
    • Just the right amount of toe-cleavage :)
